Step 1

The first thing you will need to do for this project is find a high quality photo that you would like to engrave onto wood. Once you figure out which photo you would like to use then you go to the imag-r website (https://www.imag-r.com/).

Once you go to the imag-r website you will scroll down until you find the upload button and click on this.

Once you image is uploaded choose the material button and select the wood option.

From here it will show you with there normal settings what the photo will engrave to look like.

You can also edit it some to make the photo look exactly how you would like as well.

Left is the original photo, the right is what the engraving will turn out to look like.

Step 2

Download the file to your computer (I have always downloaded the PNG file - just personal preference).

After downloading the file I will open it in a editing software such as Adobe Photoshop and I will take measurements of the wood piece I will be engraving on, make those dimensions in photoshop and edit the photo to fit and see what looks best on that size.

Open the file up in Lightburn and connect your laser to your computer.

Lay the piece of wood down under your laser module and get it straight. Set up the settings in lightburn (100mm/s, 100% power, 1 pass, 0.080 line interval) and start your engraving.

The engraving time on these can be a long time - I have had some take 1.5 hours and some take up to 4-5 hours

Now you have a finished project on your laser!

I have sold a ton of these engraved images and are a big hit - Mainly family photos or pet photos.
